covertdale farms horse racing news and comics: horses, ponies, cats and dogs- oh my!: Suffolk Downs Thoroughbreds May Need Homes-or will be slaughtere

Future uncertain for Suffolk, horses
By PAUL DALEY, Sun Racing Writer
:
Suffolk Race track closes for the 2005 season, but with the simulcast racing bill stalled in the State Legislature for a bundle vote on alternative gaming. Unless a sunset bill is passed, as of January 1, 2006, all 4 MAss. race tracks will be unable to accept wagers. If politics are not resolved, the small race trainer will not be able to keep their horses.

It is estimated by TRF Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, that as many as 30 horses will be sold for slaughter.

"Canter Organization of New England is specifically earmarking Suffolk horses for adoption. For information go to the Canter website at www.canterusa.org.

"What can we do to help the local horses? For starters, contact the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation at www.trfinc.org. No donation is too small. Or, if you are able to board a horse, the foundation will work with you. If you love the sport and its participants, it's something to think about, especially around the holidays"

CNN.com - Pat Morita, 'Karate Kid's' Mr. Miyagi, dies - Nov 25, 2005: "Born in northern California on June 28, 1932, the son of migrant fruit pickers, Morita spent most of his early years in the hospital with spinal tuberculosis. He later recovered only to be sent to a Japanese-American internment camp in Arizona during World War II."

"Because prospects for a Japanese-American standup comic seemed poor, Morita found steady work in computers at Aerojet General. But at age 30 he entered show business full time.

"Only in America could you get away with the kind of comedy I did," he commented. "If I tried it in Japan before the war, it would have been considered blasphemy, and I would have ended in leg irons. "

The theme of the first issue is "Flack Attack on Autonomy": Autonomy as a c=

In the specific case of online worlds the challenge is readily illustrated =
by the fact that all interaction takes place inside someone else's programm=

Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe ""I don't think we should discuss each person who is enshrined"

Abe's comments came after Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing compared Japan's Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's Yasukuni shrine visits ( to pay respects to those who died for Japan) to German leaders going to memorials for Adolf Hitler and the Nazis.

Prime Minister Gen. Hideki Tojo, Gen. Kenji Doihara, Gen. Seishiro Itagaki and Foreign Minister Yosuke Matsuoka, who all died after the warwere convicted of war crimes by the 1946-48 International Military Tribunal for the Far East. They were hanged. Japan Today - News - Public worries voiced over U.S. beef at meeting - Japan's Leading International News Network

I am dismayed with the trend in user comments posted here. There are ample reputable web site references, news sources, and USDA veterinary pathology and food safety witnesses stating their fears and lack of confidence in the USDA's testing methods for MAd Cow (BSE).

I understand that Japan as do many countries outside the Americas, have MUCH stricter Food Safety Standards than the US, therefore I implore the Japanese people to read and learn more about the politics and news events surrounding Mad Cow in the US.

For example please read:

1. Could the Nightmare happen again?- a definitive time line of Veterinary investigations of Mad Cow in the US
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Mad_Cow_USA/Could_the_Nightmare_Happen_Here%3F

2. the CBC news story posted:
Concerns raised about 1997 U.S. mad cow tests
http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/04/12/usbse050412.html

and from them understand that MAd Cow may be willfully undiscovered.

"One of the USDA's top officials told CBC News that
> the U.S. testing
> program was never designed to catch every single
> case of mad cow
> disease. It was simply meant to measure how much
> disease there is." http://www.cbc.ca/storyview/MSN/world/national/2005/04/13/usbse050413.html

+++please note+++

Mad cow may be linked to the Human Alzheimer's disease, therefore, American death tolls are not good indicators of Mad Cow's prevalence, and many Americans today may be unknowingly suffering Mad Cow's affect.
